Special Council Meeting Minutes
Friday, June 4, 2010 @ 5:30pm
Meeting called to order by President Gibson at 5:30pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Present:
Trustees: Pat Arter, Ken Hansen, Don Meyer, Don Schlipp, President Lori Gibson
Absent: Trustees: Kim Peters, Steve Slavicek
Also Present:
Manager: Derek Perry
Motion by Arter to approve agenda as written. 2nd by Schlipp. Motion carried.
New Business:
Street Maintenance
Village Manager presented proposal to complete crack filling, seal coating and repainting of
downtown business district streets. Limits of the project would be St. Joseph Avenue from Lawrence
to Ricky's business at 5664 St. Joseph Avenue and W. John Beers Road from Park Street to the Rail
Road tracks.
The purpose of the project is to preserve, protect and improve the appearance of the existing
downtown business district streets. The Village requested and received two bids for the projects.
The work would require the closure of the project area on Sunday, June 6th from 6AM until
approximately 10PM.
Motion by Arter to approve the bid from Arnt Asphalt Sealing Inc. in the amount of $4,360.00 to
complete the project. Funding would be provided from the Major Street Fund.
Discussion occurred regarding the merits of seal coating, its purpose and the benefits of performing
preventative maintenance to the street system to extend their service life.

Motion Carried with 4 ayes and 1 nay.
