Regular Council Meeting
Minutes
Thursday, January 14, 2010 @ 6pm
Meeting called to order by President Gibson at 6:00pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Present: Trustees: Pat Arter, Ken Hansen, Don Meyer, Kim Peters, Don Schlipp, Steve Slavicek (left at
6:19pm, re-arrived at 7:06pm) President Lori Gibson
Also Present: Interim Clerk: Tiffany Moore, Treasurer: Dawn Rush, Interim Manager: Bret Witkowski

Motion by Arter to add Budget Hearing immediately following and add Blue Cross Blue Shield changes
under New Business. 2nd by Peters. Motion carried.
Motion by Arter to close regular meeting and open budget hearing. 2nd by Peters. Motion carried.
Regular meeting re-opened on Motion by Hansen. 2nd by Schlipp. Motion carried.
Motion by Schlipp to approve December 10, 2009 minutes. 2nd by Peters. Motion carried.

New Business:
Motion by Arter to recommend the council appoint Tiffany Moore as clerk for $13.75/hr at 30 hrs per
week. 2nd by Schlipp. Motion carried.
Motion by Arter to allow Accomplish Quilting to put a sign under the Bert’s Breakfast Corner sign on
the corner of St. Joseph Ave & Kimmel St.
Motion by Peters to increase the current Blue Cross Blue Shield deductible on Mark Platte and Dan
Thompson to $500 from $250 in order to save the Village approximately $4000 per year. 2nd by
Hansen. 6 Yeas, 1 Nay; Motion carried.
Reports:
Finance – Rush read back balances.
Motion by Peters to approve monthly bills totaling $35,002.24. 2nd by Arter. Motion carried.

Motion by Arter to add Blue Cross Blue Shield to usual and customary bills that are paid at the
beginning of the month, before Council meets. 2nd by Meyer. Motion carried.
Motion by Peters to accept the 2009-2010 Amended Budget Changes to Income. 2nd by Arter.
Motion Carried.
Motion by Peters to accept the 2009-2010 Amended Budget Changes to DDA Reimbursement for
Loan. 2nd by Arter. Motion carried.
Motion by Peters to accept the 2009-2010 Amended Budget Changes to Expenses. 2nd by Arter. 6
Yeas, 1 Nay; Motion carried.
DPW – Hansen reported 350 ton of salt ordered with 175 ton being delivered so far. The purchase of
51 tons of sand is helping to cut down on salt use. The decision was made to continue caring for the
sidewalks; residents are asked to help keep sidewalks clean and to not pile snow from driveways onto
sidewalks. The major and local roads will come before sidewalks and there will be no overtime spent
plowing sidewalks. In the springs they are anticipating putting together and selling surplus equipment
with the help of Derek Perry.
Ordinance – No Meeting.
Policy and Procedures – No Report
Planning – Slavicek reported receiving a survey from Custom Tool & Die (not in Village limits), they are
seeking state money to get out of the auto business and into other tool and die.
A letter was sent to surrounding municipalities concerning Hickory Creek and if anyone would be
interested in taking the lead on that.
There was one building permit and one mechanical permit this month.
LMSWSTA – Slavicek reported a Resolution being passed to meet twice yearly before bond payment is
due; in April and October. Officers will be elected at April meeting. July 1st starts the fiscal year.
Parks – No Meeting
DDA – Gibson reported at the last meeting there was discussion as to when Earl Small’s building will
be open; he reported working on it. The Façade project is complete.
Still looking into working with local realtors to market property and get it sold.
The Lions club inquired on bringing a car show downtown in the summer. Business owners seem
interested in the idea
Stevensville Now – No Official Meeting. Christmas in the Village was hosted with DDA. About 30 kids
came in. Peters is looking for more members to help her.
Fire Board – Arter reported not making last meeting but she did read the minutes; they are looking to
replace an outgoing member and going over the budget at the next meeting.
