Minutes
Thursday, February 11, 2010 @ 6pm
Meeting called to order by President Gibson at 6:01pm. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Present: Trustees: Ken Hansen, Don Meyer, Kim Peters, Don Schlipp, Steve Slavicek (left at 6:21pm

Also Present: Clerk: Tiffany Moore, Treasurer: Dawn Rush, Interim Manager: Bret Witkowski (arrived
at 6:57 pm)
Motion by Meyer to approve agenda. 2nd by Schlipp. Motion carried.
Motion by Slavicek to approve the Budget Hearing minutes of January 14, 2010 with the change of W.
John Beers sidewalk improvement now stating W. John Beers sidewalk and road improvement in the
fourth paragraph. 2nd by Hansen. Motion carried.
Motion by Peters to approve the Regular Council Meeting minutes of January 14, 2010. 2nd by
Schlipp. Motion carried.
Motion by Slavicek to approve the Special Council Meeting minutes of January 21, 2010. 2nd by Peters.
Motion carried with Meyer abstaining.
New Business:
Motion by Schlipp to allow the following organizations to use the corner of St. Joseph Ave and W.
John Beers Rd for fundraising with dates being approved by Council in advance;
Stevensville American Legion Poppy Sale
Lakeshore Lions Club White Cane Sale
Goodfellows Newsies Sale
Miss Stevensville & Court (two dates per year)
Lakeshore Public Schools (two dates per year, groups participating chosen by school district)
Relay-for-Life (honoring Fred Albrecht, former Village Clerk, Trustee, and Building Inspector)
Local municipal organizations (fire, police, etc.)

Motion by Meyer to allow the Stevensville American Legion to use the corner of St. Joseph Ave and
W. John Beers Rd for their poppy sale on May 21, 2010 with a rain date of May 22, 2010. 2nd by
Schlipp. Motion carried.

Reports:
Finance Rush read back balances.
Bank statements are being reconciled monthly. Checks and balances are in place with the Treasurer
and Clerk.
Motion by Hansen to approve monthly bills. 2nd by Meyer. Motion carried.
DPW Hansen reported being ahead on salt use so far this year. The springs and muffler was
replaced on salt truck. A policy will be made regarding large pick-ups when Derek Perry comes on
board. He will also being helping get new trash bids. Trying to keep overtime of DPW workers under
control.

DDA Gibson reported Lakeshore Lions being interes ted bringing events into the Village this Spring
and Summer. The Faηade program is officially complete. The main focus now is beautification of the
downtown area.

Public Comment:
At the March Council Meeting there will be a recommendation for a line on the budget for legal fees,
including Lincoln Twp vs. Stevensville and Stevensville vs. LMSWSTA
To avoid future legal fees, the Council will meet face-to-face and discuss issues with neighboring
communities without lawyer involvement.

The State of Michigan will present the audit at a Special Council Meeting on Wednesday, February 17,
2010 at 6pm.
